A family run organic small holding among the hills of South Shropshire in the Clun Forest. We produce a range of seasonal organic vegetable in both protected and field production We have a small flock of organic layers producing free range organic eggs and a small flock of Lleyn sheep from which we produce quality organic mutton. Off site we run beekeeping enterprise of around 100 colonies. Honey produced from our bees is sold direct at markets or bottled for shops and other small retail outlets. The farm is run to the Demeter BDAA Organic standards.
We sell our vegetables and eggs at Shrewsbury Indoor Market every Friday and Saturday. Also at Moseley Farmers Market on the 4 th Saturday every month. Organic meat is available by prior arrangement.

No matter what the product is we will always look for the local producer first. If we can't get it locally then we buy British. For those things that we can't get locally or from a British producer, we use local importers - for example our olives are from Bristol and our dried fruits from Bridgwater. Money spent on locally produced food generates almost twice as much for the local economy as money spent in the supermarket. By buying local or British, you can cut down on the amount of preservatives and chemicals used in production to maintain stock quality in transit, you will benefit from important vitamins and minerals, which begin to diminish once picked. Although many of our goods from our local producers are not certified organic they are grown to organic standards - small producers cannot justify the cost of organic certification, which can run to thousands of pounds per year. Many also feel aggrieved that they should have to pay for the privilege of certification, when they have worked in the same organic manner for generations.

Probably shouldn't add this one, some of the produce has probably traveled twice around the world BUT what a delight this place is, a lot of the stuff is local and I guess if you live in Clifton it saves driving the Clifton Cas Guzzler to the Asda Deli. Entering this French and English deli for the first time is akin to discovering Tutankhamen's tomb. Delectable treasures crammed into every nook: fresh breads from Bordeaux Quay bakers, croissants and pastries made by a local Frenchman, specialist cheeses,some local cheese too. Lavazza coffee and a range of wines by Corks Of Cotham, salad boxes and home-made dishes to take away. Steak and kidney puddings with organic beef, fish gratin with pesto, stuffed aubergine and coq au vin. In the café I enjoyed Bills pork pie with salad and the service was welcoming.

Does Tetbury really need another shop catering to the more expensive end of the market. In this case potentially charging a premium for fruit and veg because it is A. Organic, and B. Has been grown in a royal field. If our concern is to help the local bakers, butchers and greengrocers compete with the big supermarkets then perhaps we should look at the property prices and buisiness rates in Tetbury which effectivly preclude normal small town shops from starting. Far be it for me to rant, I would love to support the small traders in Tetbury but to be honest I really dont have too much use for £4 a bottle premium lager, Caviar, or 17th century fruit knives.
