Terracing sloping gardens information on the sloping garden page
First stage was to remove the turf and dig the levels out of the slope
The breeze block retaining walls for the patio were next to be built
We built a sleeper retaining wall at the bottom of the slope to hold back the raised beds
reclaimed hardcore was laid and compacted and the sleeper steps formed
Indian sandstone for the patio,fresh topsoil in the beds and flint gravel for the pathway
Abi added the finishing touches with pots and containers
Soil erosion and running surface rainwater were a problem on this sloping garden
We leveled the slope to form three levels
The retaining walls were constructed using breeze blocks and faced up with stone from a local quarry
