What is Wrought iron ?

Alloy of iron and carbon. Discovered in 1856 in an attempt to mass-produce wrought iron. Made by melting of cast iron and removal of carbon and slag. Small residual carbon content Cast into ingots and rolled into all sections. Cheaper than Wrought iron.

Cast iron is great for garden features and ornaments but can be to brittle for use in railings, gates, security grilles, driveway gates, balconies and balustrade, We don't supply or fit Cast iron Railings or gates.

Basement windows are often out of view and make an easy point of entry for burglars. The best way off preventing a break-in is installing wrought iron (mild steel) security bars or grilles
Custom made security bars and grills made to order by a good fabricator are the best option but adjustable grills are available from local hardware or Diy stores. Make sure you buy Mild steel, Cast iron is cheaper but unsuitable for security grilles etc.
If you want to be able to open your windows place the bars between the screen and the window if your basement window opens inward. Or on the inside of the window If your window slides.
Place your security bars in the window opening (make sure you have measured correctly before you purchase bars or security grilles) and mark where the fastening screws will go. Drill holes in the window frame to screw the Grille in place. Use long screws to be sure the screws go right into the window frame.
TIP. Use security screws or one way screws to install your security bars. They are designed to screw in just like a normal screw, but they can't be removed, so are extra secure .
